I'm sorry if I respond slow or say anything out of place, I'm going through a very very intense period of well, life right now, and I'd like to apologize to those in advanced. This whole web comic idea is simply a distraction and trying to start a new positive note in my life. I promise you, I'm trying to catch up on everybody's art, journals, and comments they've left me the past 6 months.
This is a very long journal. If you are not interested in web comics , which may or may not involved yaoi/yuri , or my future projects which do not involve cosplay, you probably don't want to read this. Just saying.
After reading so many web comics, I've been getting the motivation to draw and practice anatomy and perspective so much more, in hopes of starting my own. I'd never start it unless I feel absolutely good enough - which is no where near close. I see improvement, yet need more. Plus, I need a new tablet, and a scanner for my work, or I'd get nowhere. And new programs like photoshop, instead of just gimp. And even a website, which I don't want to even think about right now.
Any advice on what tools to get that you've personally used? Any advice on how to start, what to practice, what you're personally interested in when it comes to comics?
I'm super psyched because my older brother agreed to do, or at least help with the dialog. He's the most amazing writer I have ever seen, it's ridiculous what he can do when he puts his mind to it. Every college essay he does, he gets 100% on, no matter what subject. He's even been playing around with book ideas, just for fun - anyways, back to the point, the literacy shall be amazing, no doubt. And funny. My brother is a genius when it comes to irony, satire, or just plain out clever and crude humor.
My mom is extremely knowledgeable in anatomy as well, and has been helping me greatly with all my drawings. She has priceless criticism, both negatives and positives, and finds flaws I would have never noticed. You'd think it would be a bit awkward since I'm practicing anatomy - aka nudity - aka ass and titties. But it's really not, whatsoever. If anything, she's supportive of it, cause she loves the human body (
Then my dad always comes up with the weirdest side plots and ideas that I have ever heard. We were actually designing a huge circus plot once before, which I may do my webcomic on.
And then of course, my Lay-Beyla, who has half my characters intertwined and totally whipped by hers. So, I'm assuming many of hers will be combined in the story line. So I'd say I've got a pretty good group.
- Dialog/Editor - Brother
- Constructive Criticism - Mom
- Plot Editor - Dad
- Character and Plot Development - Lay-Beyla
Hopefully some of my other friends will help and motivate me as well? I'd love some back up, trust me xD
Only problem is topic. I have countless stories, yet don't know which to choose from. Plus, the fact if it's going to have, or be based around yaoi or yuri - which would make things a bit weird to have my dad or brother read. Regardless, they are very open and would still (hopefully) help.
Any topics in specific that you fancy? There are countless that I have that are extremely far developed, but I'm always open to new ideas. Here are the basic ones so far -
- - The darker circus topic my dad and I created, with a very corrupted, almost demonic undertone. Split between the first generation which is slowly fading, and the second generation of children and random freaks they picked up. Revolves around two yuri couples. Dark themes, comedy, drama
- - Sci-fi/Apocalyptic theme in the future, where the world has been ran to hell by unknown creatures who appeared from the ground one day and tore humanity apart. There's a very big and high tech city, surrounded by a giant electric wall thousands of feet in the air and hundreds of feet wide, to protect the few, 10% of humans wealthy enough to live inside. Outside lies the miles of ghettos, people who live in the shacks and poisonous mud, to be prayed upon the monsters on one side, and prayed upon their own military on the other side, stealing their children and brainwashing them into human weapons to soon be used against them. More of a very close friendship, than romance. Action based
- - Oh jez, biggest storyline ever. Not even going to go into details, but based around mafia, yet each character has different back stories of terrorism, black mail, drug abuse, bounty hunting, slavery, genocide, rape, fighting to death in roman coliseum-like battles for entertainment, demons, gods, lost angels, cruel scientific experiments, mercenaries, torture, death races, pop culture/mass media - pretty much rainbows and butterflies, no? Based around many yaoi couples, but has a few straight couples, and one yuri as well. Gore, drama, action, romance, and surprisingly, lots of comedy. Focuses on one main yaoi couple.
- - Focusing on the early times of a few of the characters from above, the ones involved in genocide, slavery, being dogs to a sadistic owner, fighting for their life for entertainment, torture, experiments, demons, convicts, and mercenaries - Yaoi and straight couples if continued far enough into their life. Very dramatic and depressing. Gore, action, deep shit yo. Romance in the future. Focusing around "best friends".
- - Sci-Fi - A big collaboration of all my friends electronics, personified into a very complex war zone. Every genre included really. Every sexuality. Not super developed yet since not all friends have given me their characters. Follows many different story lines.
- - Numbered Children - huge scientific experiment of stolen children being made into human weapons. Those who survive long enough are branded with a number. Gore, drama, action. If continued far enough, romance. Based around many story lines, 11 different children in the first generation, 28 if continued into the second. Follows many different ones.
I applaud you if you read through all of this. I'm sorry for such a boring topic, but if you please could - ANY advice, suggestions, or opinions on what I should do would be so greatly appreciated.
